Year End
Right after taking the Christmas pix in the previous post we headed out from Rio Rico to Chandler, first to see Mike's mom-gramma Abbie--and then to Christmas with the kids. Abbie made a momentous holiday move, from independent living to assisted living. Since she had been in her apt for seven years, major sorting was called for. Can you believe it's been seven years? Next thing you know we're going to be 87 going on 88. Time just keeps slipping away.
We got all the paper work done, and then enjoyed Christmas day with Charlie and Leslie, Megan, Maren and Justin, Steven and Graham. Not a bad bunch. Plus we had Christmas dinner with Leslies parents, niece, and 3 of her grandparents. Presents were placed by the christmas tree with care, then opened with abandon, a rip and a tear. All seemed quite pleased with the goodies and treats. I'm just happy no one's out on the streets.
We came home on Saturday, then returned north on Monday for the actual moving from one apt to another. It was nice to visit with Abbie and pack and move and unpack and rearrange for two days. I don't think we will ever leave this house we are in. The truth is moving is exhausting. We left Abbie curled up in bed at 6:00 in the evening so we could rush home in time to be at the Dr in Tucson on Wed morning. Got that out of the way. . .
Thursday night, party animals that we are we stayed up late enough to wish the kids in New York a Happy New Year, and the kids in Arkansas a happy New Year, but then we fell asleep about 11:30, secure in the knowledge that 2010 had arrived without incident in the USA!
Today we went to a new year's luncheon with about 6 couples who have all retired down here. I can't imagine how we ended up with this bunch of very nice, older people! But we did have a fun afternoon! So, keep smiling. Life continues ro get better daily. Graham is home and kicked back. Love you all.
